Intro to R – Part I (Edinburgh)

This introductory course is designed for students with little or no experience in R programming. By attending this course, students will learn how to install R and related packages, operate within the command and console window as well as the R syntax.  There will be also scope for basic statistical applications like simple and multivariate linear regression. The course will also provide a short introduction to ggplot for data visualisations. This course prepares students for Introduction to R – Part II.

Outline:

– Introduction to the R platform and interface;

– Introduction to basic scripting command;

– Importing data sets in R;

– Statistical summary measures ;

– Data visualisations (ggplot);

– Statistical tests (t-tests);

– Simple and multivariate linear regression;

– Add-ons and packages in R ;

– Help in R

Day 1
